When Apple announced that it would be teaming up with Hermès to craft some special edition, incredibly luxurious smart watches, people were a little bit shocked on both sides. Hermès is, like, the opposite of techy and Apple rarely brands itself with any other company. But hey, the special day is here and the Hermès Apple Watch is now available for the low, low starting price of $1,100. The standard Apple Watch will run you $549, while the entry level Hermes model—the single leather strapped "Single Tour"—runs $1,100. The other models, the double strap "Double Tour" costs $1,250 and the "Cuff" $1,500. Of course, it isn't just about the strap. You also get that lovely Hermès-branded watch face. But before you get your hopes up, the watch doesn't do anything different or extra. Obviously, that's hasn't stopped gauche nerds from lining up for it, according to WWD. Because when we talk about luxury, we aren't talking about function and extra features. Nope, just about sheer superfluousness and extraneous things that don't mean shit. Which, not surprisingly, is exactly what this provides.
