Apple Is Sponsoring The 2016 Met Gala Because Technology Controls Everything

This year's Met Gala theme centered round the Met's China: Through The Looking Glass exhibit and some attendees actually navigated the treacherous waters without totally appropriating the culture. Others didn't fare so well. But with the announcement that 2016's exhibit will be related to fashion in the age of technology came news that the biggest technology company in the world, Apple, would be the sponsor.

The exhibit will focus on the the separation between handmade haute couture designs and machine-made fashion, showing over 100 pieces that span from the meticulously made garments of yesteryear to emerging fashion tech like laser cutting and 3D printing. The hosts of the upcoming event? Should-be future James Bond Idris Elba and Apple's own chief design office Jonathan Ive, who actually made Vanity Fair's Best Dressed list earlier this year. I'm assuming Ive will just be video conferencing in from the hyperbaric chamber that Apple keeps him in at all times. I'd say cross your fingers that some crazy shit goes down on the red carpet, but we all know that's a fucking guarantee.
