While the annual Pirelli Calendar has become staple in mainstream culture over the past two decades, we promise you’ve never seen an edition quite like this. The brand is changing things up this year by forgoing the typical combination of supermodels and exotic locations for natural portraits of 13 influential women–ranging from Serena Williams and Amy Schumer to Yoko Ono and Patti Smith–who are helping shape today’s modern world. Not to mention that acclaimed and beloved photographer Annie Leibovitz, who previously shot the calendar back in 2000, is back at the helm of this year’s shoot.

“I wanted to make a classic set of portraits. I thought that the women should look strong but natural, and I decided to keep it a very simple exercise of shooting in the studio,” said Leibovitz of the project. “This calendar is so completely different. It is a departure. The idea was not to have any pretense in these pictures and be very straightforward.”

The much anticipated calendar won’t be revealed until Nov. 30 but you can take an inside glimpse over at Vogue now.
