Fabolous really likes to express himself, especially through music and fashion. But did you know that the 37-year-old Brooklyn native also has a background in art?

In a recent video posted by Billboard, Fabolous takes a trip to the Brooklyn Museum’s “Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks” exhibit. While getting a private tour from the show’s curator, the rapper gets a brief history lesson on the life of Jean-Michel Basquiat as well as his collection of work. And, of course, Fabolous is rocking a tee with the late artists’ face on the front.

After getting an extensive look at the exhibit, Fabolous reveals details about his former art life. Apparently, he attended an art and design high school, which is where he first got a taste of self expression.

“Before I was a musician, I drew," he told Billboard."The housing projects in Brooklyn weren’t much of a canvas, people didn’t know that I had it in me […] I used to freehand draw, draw comic book figures, characters.”

Take a look at the video above. The “Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks” exhibit is on display now through Aug. 23. You can go to the Brooklyn Museum's website for more information about the show.
