According to BuzzFeed, Bloomingdale's had a pretty bad glitch last week that resulted in at least one of its customer receiving $25,000 in store credit. One smart, opportunistic shopper used the retailer's mistake to drop $17,000 on merchandise including $10,000 diamond earrings, a $5,000 watch and a brand new Louis Vuitton bag.

Apparently, some customers who are part of Bloomingdale's "Loyallist" program received emails that included anywhere from $5,000 to $25,000 in store credit last Friday. Customers who racked up 5,000 "Loyallist" points would typically receive a $25 gift card, but instead they were rewarded with a whole lot more. BuzzFeed spoke to the heroic American citizen who cashed the fuck out and he said that he initially tested it out online, but was worried that the store would cancel his orders. So, to make sure he could really take advantage, he went in person to the Bloomingdale's flagship in Manhattan when it opened in the morning and, would ya look at that, all of his purchases went through.

This is just like when Ralph Lauren's 65% discount code leaked last year and dudes like Just Blaze racked up thousands in online purchases, though many other orders were canceled.

Naturally, Bloomingdale's called him up telling him that he needs to return the merchandise. The company provided him with two choices: return all of it for a measly $100 gift card or keep it all and be banned from the loyalty program. Hmmm, $100 for being a Good Samaritan narc or $17,000 in free shit? I usually act morally and realize when a mistake is made, but $100 is no fucking reward, especially when compared to $17,000. He basically said he's keeping all the gear, mentioning that he wished they'd give him "a real reward." We're with you buddy.
