Have you heard of Daniel Johnston? He's a relatively well-known musician and artist with both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder who's gained a cult-like following. Both his art and general aesthetic often serve as tortured symbolism for his hardships. He's also the guy who inspired the title of Brand New's fantastic The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Of Me. In one of my college English classes, we watched The Devil and Daniel Johnston, a documentary about his life and career that shows how hard his life is living with two debilitating mental illnesses. I highly recommend it.

Today, Supreme announced a collaboration with Johnston slated for release later this week. The collection features some of Johnston's unmistakable artwork on Harrington jackets, shirts, hoodies, hats, sweatshirts and keychains. The two have collaborated in the past on a capsule of T-shirts, but this time around it's more expansive and, judging on first look, a lot more fire, though mental illness is no trivial matter. I may be straight up hypebeasting here, but I really want that black hoodie. It's not a traditional bogo, but it also kind of is at the same time? I guess it's that subtle difference that makes all the difference. Daniel Johnston for Supreme drops in-store and online this Thursday, April 16th, in New York, L.A. and London, while Japan has to wait until April 18th for this work of art.
