At last night's "Magnificent Jewels" auction at Sotheby's, there were a total of 368 lots up for grabs, but one item in particular stole the show and blinded everyone in a five mile radius of the auction house. The 100.20 carat "Spectacular Emerald Cut Diamond" shattered records when it sold for $22 million to an anonymous bidder, becoming the "first flawless diamond over 100 carats to be sold in New York" and the "largest flawless Emerald-cut diamond to ever sell at auction worldwide," according to WWD. The entire auction brought in $65 million, which is also a new record for the jewelry department of Sotheby's New York.
Before now, the unofficial Queen of Diamonds has been Kim Kardashian, who made headlines for receiving large stones from both Kris Humphries and Kanye West as engagement rings. North West posed for a photo holding the ring that Kanye bought, which is estimated to be worth around $8 million, but even North's adorably tiny hand can't make Kim's ring compete with this beast.
