Every season, there's a crop of new darlings in fashion. You know how that shit go *Drake voice*. All of a sudden, almost out of nowhere, someone who is relatively unknown drops a classic and they're the next star, expected to sweep the industry with a blend of greatness few before have ever seen. WWD just selected their menswear picks and it's an interesting mix of a little old and little new. And, because WWD has feet on the ground at basically every fashion week around the world, it got access to all of them.
Amongst the fray on the tailoring side of things are the likes of Massimo Piombo, whose signature Italian flair has been on display since his Piombo days and is now killing it with MP Massimo Piombo. There's also Ports 1961, which was started by Milan Vukmirovic, the bald, brolic dude who you might not know by name, but have definitely seen strutting with his shirt open in many a street style galley. Of course, our boy the gawd John Elliott made the cut. I mean, how could he not? Craig Green, who is up for the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize and made a stir with his raggedy, scrapped together designs in London this season, also makes the list. Dunhill's John Ray and his desire to retool the suit of the day slipped in, while current lord of minimalism and fashion industry favorite, Lemaire, fresh off a rebrand and just announced Uniqlo collaboration, caps off the incredibly successful Fashion Month the brand has had.
It kind of feels like people are paying more attention to menswear this season.
