Designer Christophe Lemaire spent four years with Hermés before leaving to focus on his Lemaire label with fellow designer Sarah-Linh Tran in 2014. According to Style.com, Lemaire and Tran have partnered with Uniqlo to create a men's and women's collection for Fall 2015 that will include "creative, comfortable everyday garments."
In a statement from Uniqlo's parent company Fast Retailing, CEO and Chairman Tadashi Yanai said that "Lemaire’s approach to design respects individuality and merges perfectly with the Uniqlo Lifewear philosophy, aimed at making life better." The designers also issued a joint statement which read that they "have always dreamt to work with Uniqlo," and that the Japanese retailer "designs qualitative and made-for-all garments for everyday life, is also our approach to fashion and the philosophy of Lemaire."
Uniqlo usually hits the nail on the head when it comes to collaborations, including last year's Alexandre Plokhov collection and previous collections with Michael Bastian, Nigo, and Pharrell. If Lemaire's track record is any indication of what he and Tran can do, then we trust that this Fall 2015 collection will be worth the wait.
