With fashion awards season upon us and the CFDA finalists announced yesterday, this morning LVMH announced the eight finalists for the Young Fashion Designer Prize pared down from the 26 on the shortlist a couple weeks ago. Yes, everyone's favorite, Virgil Abloh, is still in the running. Amongst the fray is a single menswear designer (Craig Green), one unisex (Abloh) and six repping solely womenswear. Here's the full list: Virgil Abloh of Off-White, Arthur Arbesser, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant of Coperni, Craig Green, Simon Porte of Jacquemus, Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida of Marques Almeida and Faustine Steinmetz and Demna Gvasali of Vetements.
The cuts were made by a panel of experts that includes the likes of Cathy Horyn and Linda Fargo of Bergdorf Goodman, while the final decision will be made on May 22nd by a panel of LVMH senior executives and big name creative directors under the LVMH umbrella, like Riccardo Tisci, Raf Simons and Karl Lagerfeld. The winner will take home a $340,000 prize.
