When it comes to outerwear, there is no item that is as classically cool as the leather jacket; but as we’ve warned in the past, getting the right style can be somewhat tricky. You want something that is durable enough to withstand years of wear, as well as something that will look good season after season. Well, thanks to menswear brand Epaulet, you now have a few more options.
This week, the New York-based retailer released a collection of horsehide jackets made in collaboration with some of the top brands in leather goods and outerwear. The four-piece range is broken down into two categories, the first of which is comprised of two designs made in partnership with Thedi Leathers: You have a shawl collar bomber featuring hand-sewn buttons, adjustable buckles, and two front patch pockets, as well as a tab collar cafe racer with rear zippered gussets, reinforced shoulder/sleeve panels, and metal underarm grommets. Both designs were hand-crafted in Greece, and are made from genuine front quarter Italian horsehide.
The second part of the collection presents two pieces designed with Golden Bear: the Koufax baseball jacket and the Wyatt motorcycle jacket; the former is accented with ribbed cuffs and a collar, as well as two slash pockets for a classic vibe. The motorcycle joint is equally timeless as it was inspired by Peter Fonda’s character Wyatt in Easy Rider; but for this release, the brands kept the piece simple with a snap-over tab collar and Italian brass hardware details—making it pretty versatile for the months ahead.Â
