The game of basketball may have been born in Springfield, Mass., but it would not be what it is today if it hadn't reached the streets of New York City. The New York Basketball Club, a collective that celebrates the city and the game through training, leagues, and various events, will open a special outdoor gallery this week that ballers and fans should definitely check out.

Titled "RAISED," the gallery will fill "The Cage" at West 4th Street in Greenwich Village, a location that the city refers to as "basketball mecca" and will feature works by people who also love the blacktop and the culture that surrounds it. It opens on Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and will showcase the work of Bobbito GarciaAdam ListerNew York Sunshine ClubKevin CouliauJon Lopez, and the curator Justin Leonard (below).
