Karl Lagerfeld is coming to Toronto. The world famous fashion designer has partnered with CD Capital Developments and Freed Developments, and will design the lobby spaces of the new Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos, a mixed-use development coming to Toronto in 2019.
Lagerfeld’s designs for the residential lobby spaces will be his first ever work on a condo project in North America, as well as his first foray in the Canadian market. ‘Lobbies by Karl Lagerfeld’ will be featured in both the 28-storey tower on the north side and the 12 storey mid-rise building of lofts to the south.
"What I really like is what I've never done before," Lagerfeld said in a statement. "I am always looking for opportunities to expand my range of creative expression, and am excited by the opportunity to design this in Toronto, Canada as part of the Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos."
The Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos is being built on the former site of Toronto’s upscale furniture retailer The Art Shoppe (which is moving to a new location) and is bounded by Yonge Street on the west, Soudan Avenue on the north and Hillsdale Avenue to the south. The dual-tower condo development is currently in pre-registration sales. Suites will range from bachelors to one- and two-bedrooms, starting at about $200,000 with occupancy slated for 2019.
