Did you know that in addition to being a certified fashion gawd, Ralph Lauren is also a full-fledged restaurateur? Well, it’s true. And this afternoon the celebrated designer will open the doors to his first NYC eatery, aptly named The Polo Bar.

Located at 1 East 55th St. near the Ralph Lauren flagship on Fifth Avenue, the restaurant will offer classic American cuisine inspired by Lauren's favorite dishes. We're talking crab cakes, corned beef sandwiches, crispy kale salad, steaks, and, of course, burgers.

As mentioned in our previous coverage, the interior of The Polo Bar is pretty next-level and thoroughly reflects the Americana sports aesthetic the brand has become famous for. From the Henry Koehler polo match-inspired mural on the outside to the equestrian art and saddle leather on the inside, the joint vibes pretty damn luxe, but pleasantly timeless.

“I’m about longevity,” Lauren told the NY Times. “It was not my idea to be trendy. I don’t want to be the hot restaurant. I want to be the restaurant you want to go to twice a week.”

This is the third food-service venture for the 75-year-old, who has already opened a Ralph Lauren restaurant in Chicago and a cafe above his NYC flagship called Ralph’s Coffee.

The Polo Bar opens daily at 3 p.m., while the main dining room opens at 5 p.m.
