PegLeg NYCΒ is one of those cult New York brands that occupies a special place in the hearts of nostalgic streetwear nerds and O.G. Internet style heads that remember a time when you saw the latest drops on blogs instead of Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr. Β One of the 10 clothing brands we said should make a comeback, it looks like our dreams have come true.Β Kind of.

TheΒ PegLeg NYC archive hit the InterwebsΒ yesterday and we found out via an e-mail that got sent out through their (probably long-dormant) mailing list. You can view everything from collaborative floralΒ sweatsuits with Opening Ceremony (one of our personal favorites) to nautical-inspired graphic tees and caps, preppy button downs, and acid-washed jeans. They even had their pink watermelon-inspiredΒ GSHOCK watch available, but unfortunately it's now sold out.Β

We hit up PegLeg NYC co-founder Harry McNally, who is currently making #sensual #tunez as That Work, and got him to reminisce a bit about the brand, and why it was the right time to un-deadstock the motherlode of PegLeg NYC gear.

1.

Why did you decide to open up the archives and sell PegLeg goods?

It started to feel like a good idea. We all agreed, eventually.Β

A lot of people think PegLeg was ahead of its time. Do you agree?

I’m flattered people feel that way. We always tried to come up with ideas we felt were original, or at least veered in a slightly different direction from what other people were doing. We didn’t push a logo very hard and avoided doing parody graphics, both of which were very popular at the time.

3.

What are your thoughts on the current state of streetwear and NYC-based brands versus when you started up in 2006?

It feels like things are different and there are a lot more β€œbrands.” Β Although, I’m sure people felt that way we started appearing.Β  Like New York, the landscape is always changing.
