Rare hemlines and layering became two of the most important pieces of menswear this year, if you haven't noticed. The Guardian sure as hell did and looked at how popular the "longline" shirt became in the past 12 months. Tees and sweatshirts that are baggier, have longer sleeves and run down to the thigh got a whole lot of shine and became a huge element of men's fashion in 2014. So, how big were they exactly? The answer: GI-FUCKING-NORMOUS.

ASOS, popular purveyor of the long shirt, said that it sold more than 300,000 "longline" pieces this past November alone. How many did it sell the previous November, in 2013? ZERO. Meanwhile, the company is manufacturing even more of them and dropping hems lower, down to the knees, for EXTREME LONGLINE ACTION. John Mooney, design director at ASOS said, "Our customer appears to have a newfound confidence and is buying far more daring product than we ever expected or could have predicted." So, for as shitty as 2014 was, it wasn't too shabby for men's fashion. Good for us, guys. Fuck gender norms. Let's keep wearing T-shirt dresses.
