Hender Scheme, the Japanese-label brand known for its leather iterations of classic footwear,  is expanding its empire into the realm of publications.

This past week, the label released its first-ever book titled “Manufacture,” giving fans an in-depth look at the craftsmanship that goes into the Hender Scheme product as well as its expertly trained teamed that resides in the Asakusa district of Tokyo.

Assembled by celebrated designer Akihiro Kumagaya and Hender Scheme’s creative director Ryo Kashiwazaki, the book details all aspects of the label’s production. From the time-honored tools and equipment used, to the aging process of the leather, to even the ethos of the town in which the atelier is located, you really get a grasp of all the components that make Hender Scheme such a coveted and respected label.

Take a look at some of the pages from “Manufacture” below. You can purchase the book at UTRECHT’s online store, but you’ll want to move fast as there are only 500 copies available.
