Los Angeles-based Band of Outsiders celebrates its 10-year anniversary this month with a capsule collection designed by founder and creative director Scott Sternberg. The label is known for rejuvenating preppy classics with quirky details, and the anniversary collection reflects Sternberg's talent for doing so, with pieces that celebrate the past decade with design details that allude to the milestone.
The "Ten Tally Marks" shirts feature a bold graphic in red and blue both on Benton stripe crewneck tees and also embroidered on the bottom of the men's and women's bestselling oxford cloth shirts; the "10 Freeway" t-shirt features a Polaroid photo taken by Sternberg himself of California's "10" freeway sign; and the Ten Tie Gift Box, a first for the brand, features—you guessed it—ten special editions ties. Band of Outsiders' first-ever product was a tie, so this piece is definitely a fitting one to include as the label celebrates 10 successful years in the game. A hand-crafted wooden box holds ten neckwear styles that reflect past bestselling designs as well as some new ones.
Band Out Outsiders will also reissue Core Classics as part of the anniversary capsule, including a navy schoolboy jacket and black wool tuxedo for men, and the “Boy” intarsia sweater and tuxedo jumpsuit for women.
The anniversary collection is available now at Band of Outsiders' stores in New York and Tokyo as well as Barneys, Opening Ceremony New York, and online. In addition, through the end of November, Opening Ceremony NYC will be featuring a Band of Outsiders pop-up store within their Howard Street boutique displaying the 10-year collection. If you're in the Big Apple be sure to check it out.
