Today the latest drop of the Palace Skateboards' Fall/Winter 2014 collection is going on sale in the usual UK skateshops and select fashion boutiques, and it includes a brand new hat design, called the 7-panel.

“Like a 5-panel, but two better,” where the difference between the classic 5-panel camp cap and the new 7-panel design is really evident, is the removal of the size adjustment strap, which is replaced by an elasticated section, exaggerating the overhang of empty space in the gathered material above it.

The look achieved is something undeniably fashion—from behind, the hat doesn't look unlike some sort of iteration of the Nasir Mazhar Bully Cap—but still maintains the core construction of the classic 5-panel camp cap, and it's a pretty damn amazing look, albeit one pretty far removed from Palace's skateboarding roots.

Is this another step towards fashion for the London skate company? And, if so, what will the core of the fashion industry make of the move? Is Palace Skateboards' foray into fashion going to be something they can accept? Or, are Lev and the boys stepping on some toes, and into a domain where they aren't welcome and aren't going to be tolerated?

Check out some more images of the 7-panel caps below, and you can shop the latest drop from Palace, including the new hats, from skateshops like Slam City Skates  and Civilist now.
