ABC News is reporting that famed fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has passed away. According to the publication, de la Renta's family confirmed the news today.
De la Renta, age 82, was born in the Dominican Republic and was trained by Cristóbal Balenciaga before he became known in the 1960s as one of the couturiers to dress Jackie Kennedy. He's worked for Lanvin and Balmain, but is perhaps best known for his own work at his eponymous fashion house, where he's become the go-to for red carpet outfits—and wedding dresses (including the one George Clooney's new wife, Amal, wore during their ceremony) for A-list celebrities and royalty.
He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.
