After sifting through sneak peaks, teasers, ad campaign previews, and studying what Rihanna wore in what feels like an endless wait, an entire look at the Alexander Wang x H&M collection has arrived. Since the collaboration was announced in April, we've been excited to see how Wang would translate his signature dark and simple aesthetic to H&M, and the collection was certainly worth the wait.
A sportswear influence runs throughout the collection, and Wang makes sure to include some functional details, including a reflective silver down jacket with side ventilation zips, a black parka with webbing zipper pulls, and a water-resistant black windbreaker with bonded seams and a hood designed to fit like a baseball cap. Other outerwear styles include a black motorcycle jacket made with leather or scuba material.
Wang also incorporates his typical urban uniform essentials with a range of hoodies, sweatshirts, and knits, many of which are branded with “WANG” in giant lettering.
The performance influence is evident with the inclusions of sporty knit leggings, performance shorts, a baseball-inspired shirt, and a T-shirt made to be quick-drying and which reveals a hidden message when worn.
The collection also includes an accessories line, which is comprised of black scuba gloves, jacquard beanies, and compression socks. The footwear includes a range of sneaker styles that utilize the same scuba material seen throughout the collection. Several bags, from a padded nylon duffel to black leather backpacks, keep functionality in mind with a hidden nylon “shower cap” to keep the bags dry in the rain.
Wang’s final touch is a selection of objects, like a yoga mat, a water bottle, towels, goggles, and sunglasses with oversized croakies that read “WANG,” that share the collection’s athletic inspiration. Lastly, Wang includes a set of boxing-inspired accessories like real-life boxing gloves, with a tiny keychain counterpart, a whistle, and a magnetized Alexander Wang trophy cup.
