I'm an avowed atheist over here, but it's always awkward when I get into a social circle of people that, even if aren't super religious, say something offhand like "everything happens for a reason" or "it's God's plan." It takes so much of my personal restraint and love of societal norms to not just bust up and derail the whole conversation at the drop of a fucking hat. I'll be that dude. Even though a cardinal rule of social interactions at parties is to not bring up religion or politics, I'll break that. Someone has to lay down the law around here. And I'll make that sacrifice.
