Is Rihanna looking to build a fashion empire? She recently filed a list of 27 trademarks registered under her last name, Fenty, under numerous fashion and beauty categories. That's a strong indication that conquering the fashion industry might be her next power move. On the other hand, the aggressive maneuver could be just a means of protecting herself from others trying to profit off of her name. With a constant presence in the fashion world, including recently being honored with the CFDA Fashion Icon award, it's likely we could very soon see a whole grip of Fenty-labeled swimwear, lingerie, cosmetics, and apparel products on the market.

There’s long history of celebrity fashion lines failing, but RiRi’s certainly not new to the apparel and fragrance game. Anyone who's paying attention beyond her music and (intentional) wardrobe malfunctions knows she’s slowly been releasing a host of products branded with her name and likeness. Rihanna's collection for London-based brand River Island brought a huge amount of attention to the brand, and she currently has a makeup line with MAC. Most recently, the singer and her "Monster Tour" partner Eminem announced that they're collaborating with Trapstar for the tour's merch. And Rihanna’s fragrance line, which previously offered only perfume, recently expanded to a scent just for the guys with Rogue Man. Her fashion resume makes her qualified to pull off this coup.

To top things off, Rih’s already been co-signed by high-profile names like Tom Ford and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, who both believe that Rihanna is the most influential person in fashion right now. One endorsement from her, and a product will instantly sell out, whether it's a streetwear staple or a high-fashion piece.

Rihanna has enough influential pull that if Fenty is an empire on the rise, her products will most likely be successful.
