A team of undergraduate students from North Carolina State University may have just developed a nail polish that detects date rape drugs. Seriously. The polish, made under Undercover Colors, will change colors when it’s dipped into liquids that contain the drugs Rohypnol and GHB. According to the company's Facebook, statistics show that an astounding 18 percent of women in the U.S. will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. The new nail polish could be a big help for women trying to ensure substances weren't mixed into their drinks.

The group behind this game-changing product includes Ankesh Madan, Stephan Gray, Tasso Von Windheim, and Tyler Confrey-Malone. Their goal is to “invent technologies that empower women to protect themselves from this heinous and quietly pervasive crime.” They've raised $100,000 already, but are still seeking funding to help perfect the nail polish.

Visit the company’s Facebook page to find out more.
