If you’re a fan of fashion and also love art, then you might have heard of Uniqlo’s ongoing SPRZ NY collection. The line takes inspiration from famous artists, both alive and dead, to create a collection of wearable art in partnership with the Museum of Modern Art.
Entering its second season, the Japanese retailer has tapped the likes of Julian Opie and David Shrigley while also bringing back the work of world-famous artists, including El Lissitzky, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sam Francis, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, for a collection of 200 items. From blankets to down jackets to T-shirts, these items mimic the style and pull imagery from some of the most famous works of modern and contemporary art.
This is not Uniqlo's first collaboration with MoMA. Recently, the store created sleek uniforms for the security guards at the museum. For the project, Uniqlo created pants and jackets that stay true to MoMA's ongoing dedication to high design.
Look for the company's newest art-inspired line at Uniqlo retailers starting August 11.
