Market Week Recap: Études Spring/Summer 2015

None

The Études way founds itself on making the most of black and blue in perfect harmony with a few volts of amped up color energy thrown in for good measure. The French brand's sixth collection is a growth and expansion on the style, with a different burst this time around. Motocross speed and culture provided the brunt of the inspiration for for S/S 15 and it's plain to see. High-fashion adaptations of moto jerseys are a mainstay throughout and elements pulled from the design, like mesh shoulder panels, find their way onto shirts and long, sleeveless tunics. Creative Director Aurélien Arbet explains that the brand wanted to express the idea of movement across the entire line, interpreting the concept differently based on each piece. A printed engine graphic appears on some items and a unique woven material portrays a pair of pleated trousers in perpetual motion. Of course, signature sweats make up a portion of the collection, but the emphasis on bright colors and some daring interpretations of "sport in fashion" is evident. As balled out as riding the trails in some Études would be, we can't really recommend it. It probably doesn't handle the mud too well.
