New York and New Orleans-based photographer Akasha Rabut’s latest project gives her viewers a glimpse into the lives of high school marching band members and cheerleaders. The series, dubbed “Edna Karr” after the high school where the photographs were taken, features teenage dancers, acrobats, and musicians prepping, performing, and checking their cell phones. The glitz and glamour of sequined uniforms dazzle against the urban background as performers spin, stomp, and march through crowds of people. Through the photographs, the viewer gets a sense of how seriously these young people take these activities and also how exhilarating they must be.
