Raf Simons Breaks the Rules and Goes All Out With Artist Sterling Ruby on His Fall/Winter 2014 Collection (Video)

Raf Simons links up with Sterling Ruby for a punk rock inspired collection that breaks all the rules.

This past January, Raf Simons showed his fall/winter 2014 collection made in collaboration with artist Sterling Ruby at Paris Fashion Week. The collection was truly one of the most incredible and talked about that week and beyond. Dazed Digital caught up with Simons to talk about the approach he took to the season's designs, and put together a video highlighting a few of the pieces.

“This season was about applying an outsider theory to fashion” Simons told Dazed Digital. In the video by the magazine, we see the final products detailed with patches and paint splatters that looks like something that should belong in a museum rather than hanging on a rack at a boutique shop. There is a rebellious attitude, stemming from both Simons and Ruby’s love for early punk rock, behind it. “It was a first collection again, something far away from the aesthetic, the thinking process and the attitude of the fashion system” added Simons. "It was important to take the chance to get out of our own systems.”
