Katharina Grosse never leaves her spray paints and pigments alone for long. Known for her magnificent use of color, the Berlin-based artist is currently in Philadelphia, adding literal pops of color to one of the city's main transportation routes. For her project Psychlustro, Grosse has designated seven locations throughout the route to be turned into the sites of her vibrantly colored installations.
Presented by the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, the installations will transform Philadelphia's rather barren terrain into a colorful wonderland, making the view much more thrilling for train passengers. Abandoned warehouses, weathered buildings, and even stretches of trees get the Katharina-Grosse-treatment, which train riders can then marvel at through the windows of the moving train. Looks like we'll all be making our way to Philly soon. Head to Designboom to see the rest of the shots.
