Shane Gonzales cut his teeth at Stay Dirty Co. and the venerable brand SSUR under founder Russ Karablin. But since the beginning, the young designer knew he wanted to establish his own brand, and every paycheck was saved up to kickstart his label. Now, the L.A.-based designer debuts his MIDNIGHT brand with a spring/summer 2014 collection that sees his vision through.

And one way to get a step up over the other upstart competition is to enlist the assistance of Ian Connor, who models in the lookbook. The gear is graphic and text-heavy, though without being excessive. Images of hands, the word "MIDNIGHT," and digital globes are placed effectively on outerwear, long sleeve shirts, and tees, respectively. Also included are collaborations with Ebbets Field Flannels and Mag-Lite.

The dark images above preview the 20-piece collection set to drop online tomorrow.
