Over the weekend, Thinkspace Gallery opened a huge show entitled "New Works," featuring the colorful mixed media creations of New York-based artist Erik Jones. Seamlessly merging an unlikely combination of hyperrealistic portraits and abstract designs, Jones covers his renderings of women and skulls in vibrant geometric shapes. By layering intuitively placed patterns on top of his highly realistic portraits, Jones achieves this unusual and striking collision of the hyperreal and the surreal. For those who can't make it to the California gallery before the show ends March 22, click through to see some of Jones' stunning pieces and enjoy the rest over on Thinkspace Gallery's site.
