Were carpenter jeans cool for you guys back in the day? Carpenter jeans, admittedly, were pretty cool when I was kid. But carpenter shorts? Those joints were FIRE FLAMEZ. To this day, I can't figure out why Bugle Boy and UNIONBAY put out so many carpenter-themed shorts and pants for kids. I mean, we literally had nothing to carry. I always figured the carpenter era of 1997 or so was going to remain forever one of those weird cultural relics, like pet rocks or Chia Pets or those singing bass fish or whatever, but I think that the assistant designers at Bugle Boy have created a latent fascination with carpenter details because carpenter pants keep popping up in contemporary menswear. Take these OAMC Ventile pants for example. They call them "double knee" pants, but you can decide which is a worse description for your friends to focus on for yourself—the fact that your fancy pants have reinforced knees or carpenter pockets.
