Earlier this year, UNIQLO appointed Nigo as creative director of its UT Collection. Being that the Japanese retailer didn’t have a creative director for prior UT collections, the Bape founder was a perfect fit for the retailer’s T-shirt line. He brings with him his extensive streetwear background to a massive 1,000-piece collection for spring/summer 2014. Today, we get a peek of what he’s been working on.
Characters from all your favorite pop culture moments come to life. Cartoons from Mickey Mouse to the Simpsons and science fiction favorites like Darth Vader and the Gremlins are all there. Some of these illustrations were commissioned specially for this collection, so you won’t find them anywhere else. And the tees have been revamped with special fit and quality depending on design.
The playfulness in his designs are still there, as Nigo show’s he’s still a kid at heart. Now all we’re waiting for is the first tee to drop because it’s going to be a good challenge to cop all 1,000.
