In 2011, Marina Abramovic’s life (and death) became the subject of an opera scored by with music by Antony Hegarty. It’s title? The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic, of course. The legendary performance artist herself was tasked for a role in the performance, which meant she had to sing. Having previously not explored this endeavor in a professional environment, she took up vocal lessons. Art21 got some exclusive video of her very first training session, as well as a few snippets of interview. The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic  premiered at the Manchester International Festival in 2011 and found a home at the 2013 New York City Armory show. Check out the clip above.
