Another Christmas, another year we pass around this alleged Banksy Christmas card. The painting shows Joseph and Mary attempting to reach Bethlehem, but blocked by the West Bank barrier between Palestine and Israel. A modern update of an important cultural touchstone, it’s a clever if not sorrowful reminder of the barricades arbitrary barriers we construct between societies and etc, etc...

Guys: maybe stop with this “Banksy Christmas card.” First of all, it was never a Christmas card. It was a painting from a 2005 exhibit. Not a Christmas card. It was inspired by his 2005 visit to the West Bank. We’re not denying the brilliance of the painting. But as Banksy continues to grow in renown, it seems new fans just can't help but assisting in the discovery of this new work. The Internet cannot exhaust this artist. And here we are.
