A short while ago, director Harmony Korine contributed a hilarious note to Hans Ulrich Obrist's ongoing Instagram project, one of the best and most surprising yet. Marina Abramovic's contribution is more predictable, but that doesn't make it less important. The performance artist wrote the phrase "Life is a Miracle" on a yellow Post It note and printed her name at the bottom, capitalizing every letter except the i's.
The phrase is by no means an Abramovic original but it does feel very much like something the artist believes. We wouldn't expect her to go the humorous route because jokes are not her strong suit, and the confusing stuff is more Kanye's thing. The project is more about how things are written and less about what is written, but we think Abramovic's is interesting either way.
