London-based artist Word to Mother will soon open an exhibition of paintings in San Francisco at White Walls. "California Coming Home" is a new body of work inspired by the artist's visit to the state back in 1996. The paintings contain references to the people and places of old-California and Word to Mother's nostalgia takes centerstage: "When I first visited California it was a time in my life when things were much more simple, for me personally and for society as a whole. Technology was progressing rapidly but was yet to overcomplicate day to day life.  People’s actions were still integral to how they were perceived by others...These works are my reaction to the dramatically changing social environment in which I find myself.”

The exhibition opens November 9 and runs through December 7. For more information visit the White Walls website.
