We last brought you news of a 3D-printed gun, designed by Cody Wilson, finding its way into the Victoria and Albert Museum. Now, it appears if that museum were to be in Philadelphia city limits, the weapon held inside would be illegal. The city of Brotherly Love has become the first in the world to outlaw 3D-printed weapons.
In a completely preemptive measure, the Philadelphia City Council unanimously voted to ban the weapons. According to Philly Magazine, the pols behind the pull are not aware of any factories currently manufacturing 3D weapons. “It’s just based upon internet stuff out there,” Steve Cobb, the director of legislation behind the bill’s writer Kenyatta Johnson, told Philly.
