NEXT Architects competed in and won a design competition for a bridge needed to cross the Meixi Lake in China. The architectural firm's winning design features peaks and valleys inspired by the endless surface of a Möbius strip. The pedestrian bridge will be 150 meters across and 24 meters high above the river. Unlike the Möbius strip, this structure will have multiple start and finish points at either end of the lake, but the unique design makes it appear to be an endless track. The designers also took cues from the Chinese knot with its interweaving components.
