As is the tradition of the Bowery Mural Wall, it is time for one awesome piece to be whitewashed to make room for another. Back in July, POSE and REVOK painted an epic tribute mural that doubled as promotion for their joint art exhibition at Jonathan Levine Gallery. According to Bowery Boogie, the wall will be whitewashed beginning today so that Swoon can begin creating her masterpiece for all of New York to see.

Swoon's art is very different aesthetically from that of POSE and REVOK. It will be interesting to see how she uses wood block prints and layering to cover the massive canvas and we hope that we can witness some of the installation process.

UPDATE October 23, 2013 3:56 p.m.: The mural is well underway and features at its core one of the artist's most recognizable figures, Thalassa, a goddess from Greek mythology who is known as the mother of all sea creatures. According to ArtInfo, Swoon's piece will be Hurricane Sandy-themed, so the inclusion of Thalassa makes sense. Progress photos have been added above.
