Eric Koston's Editorial for Russian Esquire Is Huge for Skateboarding

Skating, fashion, and pizza.

Eric Koston is in Russian Esquire and the skateboarding world will never be the same. It's nothing new for skateboarding to influence fashion—high fashion, even—but in the editorial Koston is seen ollieing over couches, eating pizza, and wearing Dior, Lanvin, Prada, Maison Martin Margiela, and his trusty Nike SB sneakers—and it doesn't feel forced.

Koston is seen in slim suits, paneled jackets, and his signature look of 5-panel hats and skate shoes. Better yet, he looks like he's genuinely enjoying himself as he gets his fashion on and doesn't pose too hard for the #menswear lens.

We've known Eric Koston to be one of the most stylish skateboarders of all time, but his appearance in the menswear publication expands skateboarding's fashion perspective as something more than what's driven streetwear brands or been falsely adopted by fashion designers with questionable intentions.

Koston is arguably the best skateboarder of all time, and it's cool to see him have an impact on the fashion world that's not contrived or corny. This isn't models doing handplants, this is the real shit.
