While it looked like Banksy would go to any ends to complete his New York residency, today he was not able to put up a piece. The text on his website reads, "Today's art has been cancelled due to police activity." Whether the street artist was in fact blocked by the police or if this statement is in itself a work of art is up for debate.

The NYPD has been hot on Banksy's trail recently, trying to catch the elusive artist for vandalizing private property. Today, cops thretened to ticket the man cleaning Banksy's Ronald McDonald sculpture, and a police truck was seen next to the Banksy Sphinx yesterday. We hope for the sake of the residency that the police back off of the British enigma.
