Yes, it's true. Banksy's "Better Out Than In" residency in New York continues with an unexpected twist, in the form of him selling art in Central Park. The video below shows an hourly recap of people walking past the booth without noticing the pieces on sale for $60. A few passersby made purchases, but hardly any, making a truly striking commentary on how context and marketing influence the buying and selling of art.

Bansky says on Instagram that "This was a one off." Sucks for anyone in New York who missed the opportunity to buy some rare art!

UPDATE October 14, 2013 at 9:15 A.M.: BBC estimates that the $420 Banksy made from selling these pieces (some that the customers demanded discounts for), would have actually totaled $31,000 given the market value of his work.
