If you love winter, you love Nigel Cabourn. The Everest Parka is consistently a banging silhouette with amazing details like wood zipper pulls and half stuffed goose down. But I fear that it never, ever gets cold enough to wear anything with "Everest" in its name anymore. Has our constant consumption and reliance on fossil fuel and electricity rendered extreme gear like this irrelevant for most of us? Yeah, probably, but it’s not like any of us can really afford a four thousand dollar parka anyways. So maybe instead of saying global warming has caused the extinction of the Cabourn jacket, we should say the human race has.
