Bad news for California art fans. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) just rose the price for membership to the institution. Beginning this month, fees increased across most of its membership levels, marking its first increase in six years.

For a standard one-year single membership, you will be paying $60 instead of $50. The the price for an annual membership for two people has made a leap to $110 from $90. Student memberships are not exempt to the new fees; they are now $30 instead of $25. However the membership levels now provide members a 30% discount for up to two extra general admission tickets per visit.

The LACMA website says that the increases are related to the rising costs involved with its growing array ofexhibitions. "Membership contributions are an important part of maintaining a balanced budget and continuing to engage the broad and diverse communities we serve," the museum said. General admission to LACMA costs $15 per individual, with special events occasionally requiring an additional fee.
