California Health Agency First 5 is in hot water after they used Photoshop to alter a little girl's appearance in their latest "Less Sugar" advertisements. The controversial tactic was made apparent by Marilyn Wann, author and advocate for healthy living for every body type.

Spokesperson for First 5 Lindsay Van Laningham responded to the accusations of "fat-shaming" and "fear-mongering" by saying that the ad (which isn't the first of its kind from the agency) is meant to "show parents the real-life consequences of obesity and what sugar can do to our children’s lives." We think they should think of a new way to get their point across and hire better Photoshoppers while they're at it.
