Artist Daniel Edwards caused a lot of ruckus with his 2006 sculpture of Britney Spears in the middle of giving birth on a bearskin rug and another of Suri Cruise's first bowel movement (we're not joking). Well, he's set to unveil a new piece that will depict a nude, pregnant Kim Kardashian entitled "L.A. Fertility.”
"I was inspired by the beauty of Kim Kardashian and felt quite put-off by the media's criticism of her weight gain during pregnancy," Edwards said in a recent press release. "Such criticism should be off limits." The artist's publicist backed him up by saying, "We live in a media-absorbed culture where anyone can access and share a celebrity's most intimate moments. Daniel visually captures that intimacy."
During the exhibition at L.A.'s LAB ART Galleryon June 5, visitors will be asked to rub the belly of the statue for good luck. The exhibit will also display a bronze of the yet to be born Kanye-Kim baby sleeping beside Kate Middleton's also yet to be born child (pictured above). All of the works are part of his series called "Celebrity Baby Boomer."
