Aesop is a skin care line that was first established in Melbourne in 1987. They have over sixty stores internationally in major cities, including Paris, Tokyo, and New York. Recently they opened a new signature store in East Hampton. The area has been home to many creative geniuses like Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Jean Stafford to name a few.

The brand's new location has a minimal design, however it also contains an unexpected, unique design element. Within digitally-fabricated peg board that covers the entire store are inspirational quotes written in Morse code. Some of the quotes include:

"You know, they can get you in East Hampton for wearing red shoes on a Thursday" -Edith Bouvier Beale

"Adventure is worthwhile in itself." -Amelia Earhart

"Find Ecstasy in life; the mere sense of living is joy enough." -Emily Dickinson

"Beware of monotony; it's the mother of all deadly sins." -Edith Wharton.

The store was designed by Boston-based firm NADAAA and has a look of an artist's studio rather than a standard retailer—and this is the way the company has always done business. For instance, in 2011 Aesop hired local architect Jeremy Barbour to design their store in NYC's Nolita area. The resulting structure has walls and a counter made out of 1,800 editions of the New York Times. Aesop maintains its innovative approach which has attracted fans everywhere.
