Artist David Bowen Creates Experimental Installation of Houseflies Tweeting (Video)

Artist David Bowen has created a device called Fly Tweet that creates tweets based on the collected activity of contained houseflies that live inside an acrylic sphere with a computer keyboard. When a group of flies trigger a particular key on the keyboard, that character is entered into the tweet. When the flies press ENTER or hit 140 characters, the tweet is sent out. 

It's an nontraditional piece loaded with meaning about nature's relationship to technology and our scattered, disconnected ways of communicating online. Visit the piece at Towers Art Gallery in Brussels through April 21, 2013, and watch the video of it below.
