Daniel Rodriguesis a 26-year-old freelance photojournalist who got some baller news. His photo Football in Guinea-bissau (shown above) had won the top prize in the acclaimed World Press Photo competition’s Daily Life category. It was an especially life changing award because he was incredibly broke. In fact, he sold the camera he took the photo with in order to survive.

He said to the New York Times, "It was a last resort and the most difficult decision of my 26 years. I live with my grandmother; she is 68. I used the money to make car payments, pay rent and pay for water, electricity and food."

Now, he's doing a lot better.
